H1N1 Flu Update for Centers for Disease Control

During the week of September 27-October 3, 2009, influenza activity continued to increase in the United States. Flu activity is now widespread in 37 states. Nationwide, visits to doctors for influenza-like-illness increased over last week and are higher than expected for this time of year. In addition, flu-related hospitalizations and deaths are increasing as well, and are higher than expected.

Gatesville ISD Walk Across Texas Team 2nd in State!

Texas AgriLife Extension and Texas Education Agency have teamed up for the first Walk Across Texas Challenge!  Teachers can form classroom teams while staff members can form teams at the local level and compete with other staff members across the state.

Gatesville ISD's team called Bob's Babes is currently in 2nd place in the state of Texas!!  Way to walk!

Child Safety Seat Check-up Event

Parents and guardians who wonder if their child's carseat is installed correctly should make plans to attend:

CHILD SAFETY SEAT CHECK-UP EVENT
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29
10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
GATESVILLE WALMART SUPERCENTER

During this event, certified technicians will be on hand to inspect current installations and educate parents/guardians on the best safety practices related to child safety seats.  If a seat in the incorrect seat, on recall or deemed unsafe, replacement seats will be provided while supplies last.
